Press release - Trevose, Pennsylvania, April 4, 2019

Together, SUEZ and The EOR Alliance can propose complete Enhanced Oil Recovery solutions and end-to-end turnkey services to maximize yields.

Collaboration builds on the expertise of the EOR Alliance, a global leader in reservoir modeling, economic feasibility studies, pilot project development, and chemical optimization of Enhanced Oil Recovery projects.

SUEZ will leverage experience as engineers and technology providers for produced fluids and water treatment, as well as service providers for field chemical management services.

SUEZ has extended its 2016 cooperation agreement with the EOR Alliance to serve the growing demand for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), which uses advanced extraction techniques to increase yields.

Oil is a finite resource facing growing demand beyond 2040. With production from mature fields rapidly declining, EOR will be a critical technology to support global energy security.

Conventional recovery methods in oil fields leave 60 to 80 percent of the oil in the reservoir. Extending the recovery factor requires deep understanding of the geology, physics, and chemistry of the reservoir, the interactions with the water and chemicals to be injected, and the way to treat the produced fluids. The collaboration between SUEZ and the EOR Alliance creates a one-stop shop with capabilities that can shepherd a project from beginning to end.

The three partners of the EOR Alliance, IFP Energies nouvelles, Solvay and Beicip-Franlab provide complete coverage of the chain through an integrated chemical EOR offer, from formulation development to field application and monitoring: pre-feasibility analysis, laboratory design, pilot design, pilot execution and field-scale deployment. SUEZ brings extensive water and produced fluids process knowledge and a broad portfolio of technologies, engineering, equipment manufacturing and field chemical services capabilities to the initiative.

«The success of the EOR Alliance is down to the cutting-edge technical and scientific expertise of the three partners involved, the highly innovative nature of our laboratory facilities, and our extensive international experience. We have built a leadership position in integrated EOR projects, with a track record of taking complex projects from concept to field trials with NOCs and Independents globally,» said Mikel Morvan, Technical Director for the EOR Alliance.

«SUEZ brings a unique combination of equipment and field chemical expertise, which makes us an ideal partner to help our clients overcome the many operational challenges of EOR large-scale implementation. The partnership will allow the EOR Alliance to reach a large segment of clients that can directly benefit from its technology offering,» said Kevin Cassidy, executive vice president for SUEZ – Water Technologies & Solutions.

The agreement is an extension and deepening of a previous collaboration agreement in place since 2016. The extension will address the increasing demand for comprehensive EOR consulting services, field pilots, and full field deployments.
