Kick-off of the 2024-2025 academic year at IFP School

September 2 saw the start of the academic year for IFP School's Specialized Engineering, research-oriented masters and Advanced-master (Mastère Spécialisé^®) programs.
 
The Class of 2025 was welcomed by Mélanie Bernard, Head of Student Relations, in IFPEN's Dahlias amphitheater. The students then attended the welcome speech of Pascal Longuemare, Dean of IFP School.
 
During the morning, the new intake had the opportunity to learn about the safety standards to be observed on the Rueil-Malmaison campus, as well as the IT services and educational innovations made available to them by the Lab e-nov^TM and the SMILE service.
 
Maxine Frohn and Oscar Appertet, President and Vice-President of IFP School's Student Office (Bureau des élèves, BDE), presented the BDE's activities and encouraged new students to join the association.
 
Before being welcomed at their respective study centers, students were invited to breakfast.
 
This first day at the School ended with information meetings for apprentices and work-study students, led by Gilles Azencott, Director of Studies and Apprenticeship, and Céline Pierre, Officer-in-charge, Department of Studies.
 
An escape game as part of the GRE students’ integration
 
On September 3, students from the four programs at the Georesources and Energy (GRE) center continued their integration with an escape game to familiarize them with key areas of the campus, such as the Lab e-nov^TM premises.
 
Organized by Mathilde Adelinet, Olivier Bernaert, Virgine Bernatas, Carla Castillo, Jérémy Demolliens, Jérôme Laval and Arnaud Torres, the game initially involved solving seven riddles. Once they had completed this phase, the 12 participating teams then had to answer a final riddle to obtain a secret code enabling them to meet a mysterious professor.
 
“We designed this educational and fun escape game to enable our new students to discover the different professions for which we prepare them. These workshops are also designed to help them acquire the necessary professional skills and vocabulary, and to make them aware of the challenges they'll be facing,” explains Mathilde Adelinet, Lecturer-Researcher and co-manager of the Geosciences for the energy system transition program.
 
Discovering Rueil-Malmaison and the Vert-Mont Estate
 
The Class of 2025 met up again on September 5 to discover the town of Rueil-Malmaison.
 
Divided into 24 teams from different programs, they students did not let the rain dampen their spirits as they took part in a treasure hunt of the town's cultural treasures.
 
They then participated in a cultural and fun challenge at the Château de Vert-Mont. At the end of the competition, the three best teams were rewarded, each embodying the School's values: Openness, Solidarity, Responsibility. A 4th “out of competition” team was also honored with a special gourmet trophy.
