Catalysis plays a crucial role in accelerating chemical reactions and reducing their environmental impact. IFPEN, a driving force behind innovation in the fields of catalysis, biocatalysis and separation, will be participating in the 18th International Congress on Catalysis (ICC) being held in Lyon from 14 to 19 July 2024.
 

From research to industry: IFPEN shakes up catalysis

Thanks to the commitment of its scientists, IFPEN has forged an international reputation, illustrated by its numerous publications and patent applications in the fields of catalysis, biocatalysis and separation. Its teams maintain close ties with the leading French and international teams in this field and help train young researchers to address the new challenges facing the chemistry sector.

A state-owned industrial and commercial establishment (EPIC), placed under the authority of the French Ministry of Economics, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, IFPEN also targets the industrial application of its technologies: thanks to its subsidiaries and partner companies, its knowledge and know-how, resulting from decades of research, meet industry's need for more environmentally-friendly chemical processes that save energy and resources and generate less waste.
 

Catalysis, at the heart of the triple ecological, energy and digital transition

IIFPEN focuses its research on the development of innovative catalytic solutions that address the demands of the triple ecological, energy and digital transition. Its activities relate, in particular, to biomass, CO2 conversion, hydrogen, catalyst preparation, plastics recycling, batteries, energy storage, water treatment and atmospheric pollution remediation.
Its teams also use molecular modeling combined with artificial intelligence in order to develop a better understanding of reaction mechanisms, and thus optimize catalysis processes.
 

IFPEN, instrumental in the organization of the ICC 2024

IFPEN’s scientists, in particular Céline Chizallet and Hélène Olivier-Bourbigou, played a pivotal role in the success of the French bid to organize the ICC 2024. Today, IFPEN is proud to be working alongside the French Chemistry Society, the Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie and IRCELYON to ensure the success of this major event.
The ICC 2024 represents a unique opportunity for researchers from all over the world to gather together and share their latest advances in the field of catalysis. IFPEN is eager to contribute to this exchange forum and foster collaboration between research players and industry with a view to driving progress in this crucial field for the energy transition and sustainable development.
