IFPEN and the Horizon 2020 Program

Energy, transport and climate change are among the seven major societal challenges to which Horizon 2020 aims to provide solutions.

In terms of both its missions as an applied research center and its strategic priorities, IFPEN is fully in line with these European research objectives.

IFPEN's participation and contribution to a European program form part of a strategic policy targeting efficiency and performance.
It focuses primarily on structuring European partnerships concerning research projects in pre-competitive fields, demonstration projects and projects aimed at delivering new European standards.

In response to the Horizon 2020 call for proposals, IFPEN was involved in 10 proposals in 2014 and 7 in 2015.
Of the 17 proposals submitted, 6 were successful in 2014 and 3 were successful in 2015, i.e. a success rate of 60% in 2014 and 43% in 2015.

The fields concerned by IFPEN projects are:

  • transport,
  • biofuels,
  • geosciences,
  • ocean energies,
  • and nanotechnologies.
