IFP School, a graduate school that focuses on the energy and transport fields, has just closed the second edition of its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) specializing in the oil and gas industry: "Oil & Gas: from exploration to distribution".
The MOOC was enthusiastically welcomed by 21,000 participants from 148 countries: France, Nigeria and Indonesia being the most represented. 24% of those enrolled were awarded a completion certificate (twice the average for MOOCs) and 98% of participants said they were satisfied and would recommend this MOOC! This success is the result of a close cooperation between two of the sector’s key players - IFP School and Total - who provided this online course concerning the whole oil and gas chain entirely free of charge.
The numerous teaching innovations offered to support and encourage learners throughout the MOOC also helped ensure the course’s success. Mini-games, an “advanced game”, challenges, enigmas, “learning community management” and mentoring were all on the agenda throughout the 4-week course. In addition to this educational content, numerous informative conversations on forums gave students and professionals from all five continents the opportunity to discuss their own particular areas of expertise and learn even more about oil and gas issues.
A year ago, the first edition of this MOOC had already brought together over 21,000 participants from 140 countries. IFP School has also launched a MOOC on Sustainable mobility, which was a hit with participants in both 2014 and 2015.
