Machine learning: Take part in the 2018 IFPEN Data Challenge

February 2018

Here goes! The IFPEN Data Challenge, “Prediction of Residual Oil Saturation”, is up and running.

The challenge?

To demonstrate that a statistical approach may be used to predict the quantity of residual oil in porous media, by exploiting data concerning the porous rock microstructure.

Successfully modeling the physical process, paving the way for an understanding of the volume and distribution of the residual oil in a porous rock, represents a major industrial challenge; It avoids the need for long and costly experiments and provides useful information to support the design of EOR (enhanced oil recovery) solutions aimed at improving the recovery rate in reservoirs.

Students and data scientists wishing to take part are invited
>> to sign up on the Data Challenge platform.
