For the 6th year running, IFPEN has earned a place in Clarivate Analytics' list of Top 100 "Global innovators” in 2016.
The award is due recognition of the quality of IFPEN's strategy of innovation and industrial development, aimed at protecting the results of its research and promoting technology transfer to industry, in order to support the competitiveness of French and European companies.
The innovation value of an organization is assessed on the basis of four criteria:
According to the 2015 Institut national de la propriété industrielle (INPI) ranking of patent filers in France, (number of patents filed), IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) is ranked in 13th position.
194 patents were filed by IFPEN and its subsidiaries in 2015.
IFPEN is therefore ranked amongst the top 20 national patent applicants in France, alongside major industrial groups. IFPEN is also among the top three research bodies in France filing patents to the INPI, along with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS). When adjusted to account for workforce (1,600 staff), IFPEN climbs to number one.
Almost half of the patents filed by IFPEN in 2015 concern new energy technologies (NETs):
This high proportion of NET patents confirms lFPEN's commitment to the energy transition.
