A public research and training institution, IFPEN welcomes around forty new PhD students each year to carry out research in a broad range fields. Prepared within the context of PhD programs, thesis work is structured around close cooperation between IFPEN and its partner universities. This collaboration leads to mutual enrichment and the cross-fertilization of expertise. Not only does it enable PhD students to set about overcoming scientific hurdles, it also allows them to make the link between their fundamental research area and the needs of industry.
Via the preparation of these applied theses, IFPEN provides PhD students with training in scientific strategy as well as an awareness of industrial constraints. IFPEN also focuses on ensuring students are well equipped to integrate the workplace, offering cross-cutting complementary and job-search training courses. As a result, more than 90% of IFPEN's PhD graduates secure a job within a year of defending their thesis.
