IFPEN offers its industrial partners a range of electrification solutions guaranteeing optimum energy efficiency for their stationary installations and vehicles.

Electric powertrains

IFPEN and Mavel develop electric motor technologies with a very high specific power density (10 kW/kg) and modular control electronics:

  • very high-speed motor technology (up to 200,000 rpm) leading to significant weight and volume reductions
  • low-voltage, ultra-efficient (10% higher than existing solutions) electric motor and electronics : a solution
    for small electric vehicles, offering the same level of driveability as an IC vehicle
    - for the hybrid vehicle enabling a reduction in fuel consumption


Battery electronics

IFPEN develops innovative systems for electronic battery management and the energy supervisions of vehicle

  • Electronic active battery balancing system making it possible to recover up to 50% of the electrical energy lost by existing passive solutions over shorter balancing times (6-fold reduction) – developed with easyLi

Energy supervision

  • software solutions for real-time energy supervision and optimization of consumption and pollutant emissions


Thermal energy recovery system


IFPEN and Enogia have developed a range of three products for Rankine cycle-based (ORC) thermal energy recovery covering different applications:
        • cogeneration engines,
        • generators,
        • transport.
Fuel savings of up to 10% can be achieved with these ORC products of 10, 30 and 100 kWe. They are marketed by Enogia.

Research for enterprises

IFPEN Transports Energie has been part of the Carnot Institutes network since 2006.
This label is testimony to the scientific quality of IFPEN's R&I projects and its capacity to work closely with socioeconomic partners to contribute to the development of SMEs and intermediate-sized companies.
