R&I at IFPEN-Lyon

Channeling research and development towards industrial applications

Know-how serving innovation

The Lyon site comprises 8 R&I divisions whose specific areas of expertise dovetail perfectly with those of the Rueil-Malmaison site.

The research conducted in Lyon reflects the bridges between research and innovation, forming the very make-up of IFPEN.

Industry-driven research

The transition from laboratory experimentation to industrial implementation is a fundamental step in the development of a technology or product. This step determines the value and industrial credibility of an innovation.

3 principal objectives are pursued during industrial development:

  • feasibility: having identified a market, come up with, construct and operate products or prototypes in conditions that are as close as possible to those encountered in the industrial setting,
  • reliability: ensure the research process can continue over long periods (even in the event of stops and starts or incidents caused), without irreversible drift or loss of control,
  • applicability: ensure the research product is suitable for industrial scale-up.

The Lyon site brings together the expertise and resources that enable it to work on these three areas.
